We are seeking a talented individual to join our Knowledge Services team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Lead Specialist - Catastrophe AdvisoryParametric Solutions

We will count on you to:Interest and curiosity in natural catastrophes and in the mitigation of their consequencesScientific review of model methodology- commercial software and in-house softwareAbility to manage a large amount of processed and raw data via database software to create, edit, and maintain large database files and records.Understanding and ability to operate with statistical techniques and probability theory.Experience in conducting research projects, and ability to work independently on long-term, self-driven research projects.Excellent ability to document his/her own work through technical reports and presentations in English (published journal or conference papers preferred)Model deep-dive and sensitivity analysesModel validationModel version change tests and interpretationLiaise closely with the Peril Experts across the globe- Peril Impact calibration, Hail Swath calibrationHurricane climatology studies by stateThought Leadership- contribute to in-house research and thought leadership articlesOther peril specific tasksMeticulous and focused team-players who possess strong qualitative and quantitative aptitude to excel in an ever-changing, evolving field of catastrophe risk management services.

What you need to have:1 -5 years' work-related experience in catastrophe model Research & Development or similar discipline.Experience of working with a UK/US based insurance/re-insurance/insurance broking/consulting firm of global repute will be looked at preferably.Ph D or MTech degree in a natural hazard sciences- Tropical Cyclones, Severe Convective Storms (Straight-line winds, Tornado, Hail) Earthquake (landslide, liquefaction, Earthquake Sprinkler Leakage, Fire Following, Tsunami), Wildfire, Impact of climate change, mathematics, statistics.Strong quantitative and analytical skillsDemonstrated accuracy, efficiency and attention to detailFluent in programming in MATLAB (preferred), R, Python or related coding platforms or languages; SQL, PostgreSQLStrong geo-spatial expertise is an added advantageWorking knowledge of standard MS Office software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, etc.
