Job summary

Amazon's Customer Service Instructional Design team is looking for anexceptional game designer/developer with superb critical thinking skills,excellent judgment, up-to-date designing skills, and knowledge of gaming toolsand platforms.
Key jobresponsibilities
You have a proven track record designing and balancing highly technical gamesystems and content. You have knowledge of game design theory and toolspipelines. You possess strong communication skills and productionsensibilities. You have the talent to produce and implement high-quality work.You want to create delightful and surprising experiences for our learners. Youare able to work independently and are comfortable taking direction. You’llshare your knowledge while working within a highly collaborative,multidisciplinary team of designers, artists, and programmers while continuing todevelop your skillset.


• Work closely with the Design Lead and leaders to design, implement, and owngame systems, features, and content.
• Generate documentation to clearly communicate gaming ideas/goals.
• Prototype, implement and balance system variables to create an entertaininggameplay experience for a diverse array of play styles.
• Work with cross-teams on the scheduling and integration of systems designs,along with feature development goals and execution.
• Develop data-gathering methods for game balancing and tuning through focustesting, then implement changes based on the data.
• Work closely with cross-teams to ensure quality throughout the productlifecycle.
• Design, learn and optimize new tools and workflows with minimal supervision.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of game design experience in arelevant role
• Excellent command over Java, HTML 5, XML
• Experience with Unreal Engine 4 in AAA game production
• Robust programming skills on varied platforms
• You possess a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the games industry and gamedesign (learning curve, directing the player, difficulty levels, balancing,pacing, motivation & reward cycle, accessibility)
• Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus
• You ideally have exposure to Lean/Agile methodologies
• You have strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of user-centereddesign (UCD)
