Scope of the Role
Associate Director – People Operations has primary responsibility for managing end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, policies and compliances. This role acts as a leader for the People Operations team collaborating with HRBPs, other internal functions and global People operations team members. The Associate Director –People Operations ensures core HR processes are efficient and effective while delivering a great employee experience and actively contributing to the success of the business.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on a number of key operational initiatives including managing people operations for our US/UK business out of India and expanding our adoption of Workday to our APAC business. The Associate Director – People Operations is expected to be a primary contributor to these efforts including leading workstreams and overseeing the transition of work from other geographies.
Key Accountabilities:
Supervise and grow a small team of HR operations specialists creating a culture of high performance and innovation.
Oversee the execution of end-to-end employee lifecycle processes; Continuously monitor and improve those processes.
Maintain accurate and timely employee data; Contribute to the enhancement of HR systems, data management and reporting with an eye to automation, self-service and data-driven decision-making.
Maintain and evolve employee policies ensuring those policies positively contribute to the companies’ goals while supporting the needs of our people.
Ensure HR policies and processes remain compliant with legal requirements and industry practices.
Partner with HRBP’s on day-to-day employee issues; Contribute to transformational HR initiatives by providing operational insights and execution.
Partner with HR operations teams across Material’s global offices to deliver harmonized HR processes and aligned programs.
Partner with HRIS team to enhance and adapt our HR systems
Keep up to date with external trends and best practices and make recommendations to incorporate them into HR policies and programs.

Graduation from a recognized University or education institution.
Experience Expected:
10+ years of HR operations experience gained preferably from a professional services, technology or product organisation in a global company.
Experience managing a small team of HR operations specialists.
Experience in a team that has transitioned and managed processes for another country.
Experience participating in an HRIS implementation or rollout
Familiarity with key concepts concerning compliance, HR processes, ER processes and C&B
A successful profile would have following capability:
Strong operational mindset and the skills to put in place solid, scalable and simple processes.
Strong data-orientation and analytics skills with the hands-on ability to use Excel and other tools to transform and analyse data.
Readiness and ability to take the initiative, originate action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made.
Efficiency at communicating challenges, influencing a variety of stakeholders effectively, presenting sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others.
Familiarity with the complexity of global, matrixed organizations.
Knowledge of local employment law and compliances
Comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing and growing organization; Adaptability to appreciate different perspectives; to modify an approach to new requirements and to alter or easily accept alterations in one’s own organisation or job requirements;
Personal effectiveness by managing own emotions in the face of pressure, set-backs or when dealing with provocative situations.
