Role and responsibility:

Lead the end-to-end migration process from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Collaborate with stakeholders to define migration requirements and design efficient database structures.

Execute data migration tasks with precision and minimal downtime.

Manage day-to-day operations of both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.

Implement and enforce best practices for database security, availability, and performance.

Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure optimal database health.

Work collaboratively with the Sr. Database Administrator team to address operational issues and escalations.

Provide technical guidance and support for complex problem resolution.

Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24×7 operational support.

Create and maintain detailed documentation for migration processes, configurations, and operational procedures.

Train and mentor team members on database administration and migration tasks.

Monitor database performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations.

Collaborate with the team to develop proactive monitoring solutions for both Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator.

Proven track record of successfully migrating databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Extensive experience in Primary PostgreSQL database administration along with secondary as Oracle.

Proficiency in SQL scripting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Strong knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.

Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions is advantageous.

Demonstrated ability to work in a 24×7 operational environment.

Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and handle escalations.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Capacity to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
