Job Description for Network Technical Specialist

The Network Technical Specialist will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a reliable, secure, and efficient data communication network. The engineer

will support day-to-day network related project, implementation, troubleshoot issues, and

ensure the integrity of high-availability network infrastructure to provide optimal

performance for the organization's business operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and implement network configurations, including hardware setup, protocols, and software solutions.
  • Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, identify issues, and resolve network-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Installation & Configuration: Set up and configure routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks for internal and external users.
  • Network Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance to ensure smooth and reliable network operation. Schedule system upgrades and software patches as necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed network diagrams, equipment inventories, and other documentation related to the network infrastructure.
  • Support &Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to users, troubleshoot issues, and escalate problems to higher-level engineers if necessary.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement, support, and maintenance contracts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure network security and data protection.
  • Network Optimization: Continuously improve network efficiency, monitoring tools, and procedures to maximize uptime and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience is also acceptable.
  • Certifications:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network or related certifications preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in network administration or engineering.


Key Skills:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networks, VPNs, and MPLS.
  • Hands-on experience with SDWAN, routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.).
  • Knowledge of network security practices and firewall configurations.
  • Knowledge of security solutions like ClearPass NAC, BT PAM is preferred
