Transit Line is one of the TOP-3 transport and logistics companies in Russia and one of the TOP-100 largest line operators worldwide. We operate a fleet of over 15 vessels, one of the largest dry container terminals in the Far East, a pool of 400 container trucks and container trucks and more than 40 000 of our own containers.


At Transit Line we pay special attention to the development of our international departments and divisions. As a multinational team, we are looking for the General Manager of Branch at Mumbai, India.


1. Key Tasks and Responsibilities.

General Manager will have to launch the Branch Office from zero, constantly expand Transit Line’s market presence in the allocated region and to arrange all business processes connected to shipments in both import and export directions.


1.1. Operational management.

- Establishment and launching the Branch Office from zero, including all necessary legal, commercial, administrative and recruitment arrangements;

- Settlement of all carrier-related operations and processes, including vessel handling, cargo releasing, empty container storage and repositions, etc.;

- Arrangement of all business processes related to empty and laden shipments in both import and export directions;

- Building partnerships with terminals, ports, deports and authorities;

- Booking system optimization to ensure efficiency and accuracy;

- Contract negotiation and conclusion.


1.2. Sales and Marketing management.

- Constant expansion of Transit Line’s market presence in the designated region;

- Development of the allocated trade lanes;

- Market analysis to identify new business development opportunities;

- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and new international customers, carriers and partners;

- Launching forwarding related activities including air shipments, trucking, warehousing, customs clearance, etc.;

- Regular performance reports on branch activities.


1.3. Team leadership and development

- Building and management of the Branch office team to achieve target cargo volumes;

- Ensuring employee’s professional growth and KPI systems developing;

- Implementing effective management practices and fostering a collaborative environment.


2. Required Background and Skills.

We are looking for a strong leader with exceptional communication and organizational skills, as well as with significant experience in logistics and international shipping operations.


- Bachelor degree in logistics, management or related field;

- Minimum of 10 years of proven successful experience in logistics and international shipping line, and at least 5 years in a managerial role;

- Strong understanding of local operations, including slot arrangements and port logistics;

- Fluent English and Hindi languages; knowledge of Russian language will be an advantage;

- Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of team management and motivation;

- Excellent communication skills and strategic planning abilities;

- Willingness to travel frequently for business, both domestically and internationally.
