We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Control Manager, Ops Delivery and Group Transactions.

Principal responsibilities

This role is part of the Chief Control Office (CCO) within Digital Business Services (DBS). The Chief Control Office is part of the 1st Line of Defence. It oversees the holistic end-to-end health of the control environment; provides a forward looking view on risk and controls; drives effective design and implementation of controls; and monitors, advises and challenges control owners on how they are managing their risk. It seeks to apply innovative and forward thinking solutions to risk management in the first line, helping control owners to proactively manage their risks. The role is based in GSC India and will provide support to key stakeholders across the globe. The role sits in the CCO Ops Delivery and Strategy team to provide support in coordinating and supervising activities across Global Operations, DCOO and Procurement. This is also a dual-hat role sitting in the CCO Change team to provide critical functional support for Group Transactions Implementation (GTI) in setting and implementing risk/control strategy for Group transactions aligned with the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure risks are managed within appetite and escalated where necessary. Knowledge

Clear understanding of Non Financial Risks and how they are managed Knowledge of large scale business processes (within banking or other industries) and the risks inherent in these processes Strong understanding of HSBC organisational structure and roles of first/second/third line of defence Knowledge of transformation and practical experience in running large scale projects

Capabilities

Intellectually curious and inquisitive Sensitive to critical risks and issues and be able to manage and escalate appropriately Able to analyse and interpret complex and varied information to generate insight – and then use this insight to develop concise and actionable conclusions and recommendations. Able to develop creative solutions to difficult problems Able to pro-actively identify and resolve issues with minimal supervision Strong relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills with experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior management. Strong written and verbal communication skills: ability to present complex issues simply and concisely, Able to build productive working relationships with colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds and operate effectively within a globally dispersed team operating in different time zones. Able to drive and successfully deliver multiple, wide-ranging priorities, often under stringent time pressures in a dynamic environment Able to influence others; able to build and led build transient informal teams to solve specific issues

Desired Requirements

Knowledge

Detailed understanding of broad operation activity and the regulatory environment in which DBS functions have to operate. Controls associated with Financial Accounting, Balance Sheet Substantiation, SOX Requirements Knowledge of retail banking, commercial banking and investment banking products and services Understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk polices Knowledge of best practice in risk management and Change management

Experience

Operating effectively in a complex, global organization Experience of managing operational risk Experience of designing and implementing process controls Experience of running large scale transformation

Capabilities

Process design and/or process reengineering skills Expertise in risk and control reporting – especially in defining and measuring leading risk indicators Setting framework to ensure risk and control objectives
