Job Overview:The Production Manager for Enamel Wires & Strips Manufacturing in Vidya Wires Limited is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day production processes, ensuring the efficient and effective manufacturing of enamel-coated copper and Aluminium winding wires & strips. This includes the coordination of production teams, optimization of resources, adherence to safety protocols, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring the timely delivery of products to customers.

Key Responsibilities:Production Planning & Scheduling:

Develop and implement production plans to ensure timely production based on customer orders, inventory levels, and demand forecasts.Coordinate production schedules for copper and Aluminium wires & strips with the aim of optimizing production efficiency.Supervise the setup of machines and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly and are in line with production schedules.

2. Team Management:Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of production workers, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.Allocate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring each employee has the necessary resources to complete their work.Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and address any team-related issues.

3. Manufacturing Process Supervision:Oversee the complete production activities & ensuring high quality and consistency.Monitor the production process for any deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) and take corrective actions as necessary.Ensure that all production machines, such as Vertical Enameling Machines, Horizonal Enameling Machines, NTT, Fiber Glass, drawing machines, and other similar equipment, are running smoothly and maintained in good condition.

4. Quality Control:Ensure the production of high-quality product, adhering to industry standards and customer specifications.Implement quality control measures, including regular inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods.Troubleshoot any quality-related issues in production and take immediate corrective action to resolve them.

5. Inventory & Materials Management:Monitor the inventory levels of raw materials (Copper, Aluminium, Enamel, etc.) and ensure timely procurement to meet production demands.Work with the purchasing department to ensure materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively.Track inventory usage and minimize wastage to reduce production costs.

6. Maintenance & Equipment Management:Ensure all production machinery and equipment are regularly serviced and maintained to prevent downtime.Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.Maintain a clean and organized production environment in compliance with company and safety standards.

7. Health, Safety & Compliance:Ensure that all safety procedures and protocols are strictly followed in the production area.Conduct safety audits and training sessions to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and quality certifications such as ISO.

8. Continuous Improvement:Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices to optimize resource utilization.Participate in regular meetings with other departments to share insights and discuss potential improvements.

9. Reporting & Documentation:Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance, efficiency, quality metrics, and inventory status to senior management.Maintain accurate production records, including machine logs, maintenance reports, and quality control data.Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and complies with company policies.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.Experience:

At least 12-15 years of experience in a production management role, specifically in Enamel Wire manufacturing processes.

Knowledge & Technical Skills:Strong understanding of winding wire production processes, particularly in the enamel coating of copper and Aluminium.Knowledge of quality control practices, ISO standards, and industry best practices.Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, SMED, Tyota Production System, 7 QC Tools, 8D Tools, Core Tools, TPM & continuous improvement techniques.Knowledge of handling machines like VEM, HEM, NTT, Fiber Glass, Wire Drawing etc.Proficiency in using production planning and monitoring software.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Leadership Skills:

Strong managerial and team leadership skills with the ability to handle conflict, motivate employees, and manage production staff effectively.

Problem-Solving:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in addressing production delays, quality issues, and equipment malfunctions.

Work Environment:Work is typically conducted in a manufacturing plant environment.This position may require long hours and the ability to work under pressure, especially during peak production periods.Strict adherence to safety guidelines is essential.
