Employee Relations Specialist

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager for Employee Relations and Engagement to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will support and enhance employee satisfaction, engagement, and productivity by fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. You will lead initiatives to address employee relations matters, design engagement strategies, and work collaboratively with managers and employees to promote a culture of respect, trust, and high performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Relations:
- Address employee relations issues including conflict resolution, grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance management.- Provide guidance to managers on fair and consistent treatment of employees while adhering to company policies and employment laws.- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and recommend appropriate actions to resolve conflicts.- Maintain records of employee relations cases and track trends to identify areas for proactive improvement.
Employee Engagement:
- Develop, implement, and manage programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.- Conduct regular surveys, focus groups, and feedback sessions to gauge employee sentiment and identify areas for improvement.- Collaborate with HR leadership to design and execute employee recognition programs, team-building events, and wellness initiatives.- Monitor and report on employee engagement metrics and make recommendations for enhancing the employee experience.
Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies, in all employee relations and engagement practices.- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.- Train managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and understanding.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing confidential support and advice on workplace issues.- Partner with HR and other departments to drive cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing employee morale and organizational culture.- Prepare and present regular reports on employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction metrics to senior management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on trends and best practices in employee relations and engagement to recommend improvements.- Propose and implement innovative strategies for fostering a culture of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration.- Lead or support special projects related to employee relations and engagement as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.- 3+ years of experience in human resources, with a focus on employee relations, engagement, or similar areas.- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and conflict resolution strategies.- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.- Demonstrated experience in managing complex employee relations issues and driving engagement initiatives.- Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with survey tools and employee feedback platforms is a plus.- Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
