Overview:

We are seeking a skilled QA Engineer with strong expertise in API testing to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our backend services. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both automated and manual testing of RESTful and SOAP APIs, and will collaborate closely with development and product teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

API Testing:

  • Design, develop, and execute test cases for RESTful and SOAP APIs
  • Validate request/response payloads, headers, status codes, and error handling
  • Perform functional, regression, performance, and security testing of APIs

Automation & Tools:

  • Build and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, or Karate
  • Integrate API tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Work closely with developers and product managers to understand API specifications and business requirements
  • Document test results, log defects, and provide detailed feedback to stakeholders

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure APIs meet performance benchmarks and handle edge cases gracefully
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving testing strategies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in QA or software testing, with a strong focus on API testing
  • Solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, XML, and API authentication methods (e.g., OAuth, JWT)
  • Experience with API testing tools: Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, etc.
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming languages: JavaScript, Python, or Java
  • Knowledge of Git for version control and JIRA for issue tracking

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or Gatling
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • ISTQB or similar QA certification
