About the Role

At Knack Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., a NABL-accredited civil & infrastructure testing lab, we are seeking a skilled
Chemist
to join our Metal Testing Department. The candidate will focus on the analysis and characterization of metals, with a strong emphasis on
steel grade identification using Spectrometer (OES)
and other analytical techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct
    chemical and spectrographic analysis
    of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Operate and maintain
    Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES/Spectro Analyzer)
    for grade identification.
  • Interpret results as per
    Indian and International Standards (IS/ASTM/EN/JIS)
    .
  • Prepare and verify
    test reports
    in compliance with
    NABL ISO/IEC 17025
    guidelines.
  • Maintain calibration logs, testing records, and ensure
    traceability
    of data.
  • Assist in
    R&D testing, client-specific requirements, and method validation
    .
  • Ensure strict adherence to
    safety and quality systems
    .

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of
    steel grades, alloys, and metallurgical properties
    .
  • Hands-on experience with
    Spectrometer (OES/Spectro)
    .
  • Familiarity with
    laboratory standards and testing protocols (IS, ASTM, EN, JIS, etc.)
    .
  • Accuracy, analytical mindset, and keen attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of
    NABL documentation & quality compliance
    (preferred).
  • Proficiency with
    MS Office / LIMS software
    .

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:
    B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or Material Science.
  • Experience:
    1–3 years in a
    metal testing laboratory
    (Freshers with spectro knowledge will also be considered).
