Lead Software Engineer (On-site, India)

About The Opportunity
We are hiring for a leader in the Enterprise Technology & Software Solutions sector that builds and operates mission-critical applications for corporate customers. The role sits within a cross-functional engineering organisation focused on delivering scalable, secure, and highly available business applications to commercial clients.

This is an on-site leadership position based in India. You will drive architecture and implementation, ensure delivery excellence, and mentor engineers while collaborating closely with Product and Operations teams.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own technical delivery for assigned product areas: define architecture, set standards, and ensure timely, high-quality releases.
  • Design and implement backend systems and microservices (APIs, data models, integrations) that meet non-functional requirements (scalability, availability, security).
  • Lead, coach, and grow a small engineering team—conduct code reviews, drive engineering best practices, and remove delivery blockers.
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, observability, automated testing, and release processes to improve throughput and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Ops to translate requirements into pragmatic technical designs and deliverables; act as a technical liaison with stakeholders.
  • Own technical debt, performance tuning, and production incident resolution; champion security and compliance requirements across the stack.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

  • 6+ years of software development experience with 2+ years in a lead/technical lead role (hands-on and people-facing).
  • Strong backend engineering skills in at least one major language (Java, .NET/C#, , or Python) and proven API/microservices experience.
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerization (Docker) and CI/CD tooling and pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling and query optimisation.
  • Experience with automated testing, code review workflows, Git-based development, and production observability.
  • Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management and ability to work on-site with cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • Experience with Kubernetes, distributed caching, message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ) and performance profiling.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth/JWT), and compliance frameworks.
  • Prior exposure to Agile/Scrum as a technical owner and experience driving technical roadmaps.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline and a track record of shipping production systems.
