Job Summary
The Head of Logistics holds comprehensive responsibility for overseeing the Transportation Business Unit, encompassing all aspects of the company's transportation operations. This leadership role is accountable for profit and loss (P&L) management, transport procurement, achieving growth targets, and ensuring efficient operations across various business lines, including road, rail, last mile, and cold chain logistics. Additionally, the role involves spearheading customer acquisition strategies and driving strategic initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies to enhance the transport business.
Scope of Work
The Head of Logistics will lead and manage all lines of business within the transport operations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with defined targets. This role includes the optimal procurement of vehicles nationwide and ensuring vehicle placement and shipment deliveries in accordance with customer contracts. Adherence to fleet and permit compliance is paramount, alongside providing strategic direction to the team and continuously upgrading the technology used in transport operations. Additionally, the role involves developing, controlling, and supervising the transport budget to ensure financial efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Establish programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the transport plan.
- Schedule all distribution services including receiving, storage, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, and maintenance activities to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner.
- Establish long range transportation cooperation needs based on sales forecasts and input from management.
- Control and supervise the transportation budget.
- Adoption of technology in the field of transportation.
- Development of new business lines in the transport business unit.
- Actively promote, lead, coach and develop team members using the resources of the company HR framework.
- Ensuring no pendency of PODs.
- Ensuring no materials are moving without proper LR & Documents.
- Ensure e-way bills are complete in all respects.
- Transport Vendor management & contract negotiation.
