Job Description

We seek an organized and diligent Copy Editor with 3-5 years of experience in our communications team at MSC. Instead of a technical expert in banking or finances, we want someone with a flair to comb through long and complex sentences and reshape them in plain English. An ideal candidate should transform Indianized/ Africanized English text from our technical experts into quality global content to pitch to an international audience.

Description

The Technical Supervisor – Copy Desk will have specific responsibilities will include:

Handle multiple responsibilities and edit documents of varying scope and size, from social media tweets and blogs to large-scale reports and PPTs, while ensuring consistently high-quality output, Support the team lead at the Copy Desk to fix errors and align with our house style, Work closely with the larger in-house communications team on documents related to the development sector, Work on documents, including blogs, pitch decks, research reports, communication campaigns, and social media deliverables.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Media Studies, or other relevant professional qualifications in line with the areas of specialization, We are also open to other streams, provided they have solid language skills and editorial experience, The candidate should be interested in areas like development, poverty alleviation, and environmental and gender issues, A background in publishing with exposure to project management will be an added bonus.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high professional standards, enthusiasm, and integrity, Should be able to edit for clarity and handle multiple stakeholders onsite in our Delhi office, Should be interested in areas like development, poverty alleviation, and environmental and gender issues, Attention to detail, ability to pick out Indianisms, a strong sense of style and grammar, ability to work well under tight deadlines, ability to edit and rewrite content while preserving meaning, Ability to solve problems, stay organized, “stay on top of things,” and track and prioritize tasks, A self-starter who can handle a steep learning curve, maintains their cool under pressure, and takes initiative, Ability to edit a variety of text—including blogs, large-format reports, PPT decks, and marketing material Excellent interpersonal communication skills and team-playing capabilities, Strong foundation in US English and an ability to switch between US and UK English, Ability to multitask while helping out on the team, A rigorous approach to adhering to in-house editorial guidelines, brand guidelines, and client guidelines, Knowledge of Microsoft Word (including tracking changes) and PowerPoint.
