An exciting opportunity awaits a seasoned Head of Legal to join a leading Real Estate client based in Mumbai. Our client carries a rich legacy of 5+ Decades built on the trust and belief of our customers and stakeholders. The group is one of Mumbai's leading real estate companies with 250+ Landmarks and is currently developing residential, commercial and township projects spread across approximately 4.1 Million Sq. M.

Required Skills and Competencies

  1. Qualification: LLB
  2. Experience: 15-20 years. Should have In-depth knowledge of all laws related to the real estate sector Overview of compliance requirements in the real estate sector

Key Responsibilities and accountability of the role:-

Manage relationship with Legal Counsel

  1. Identify Legal Counsel best suited to handle litigations for the group.
  2. Review inputs received from Legal Counsel and advocates to ensure it meets the organization's requirements
  3. Review performance of legal advisors in a timely manner

Ensure legal support to land acquisition deals

  1. Check legal status of land to identify disputes to land titles if any
  2. Review land acquisition proposals and agreements
  3. Oversee execution of land deals and resolve disputes if any

Ensure legal support to joint ventures and new business initiatives

  1. Review agreement for joint venture
  2. Provide support during set up of new companies as and when required

Oversee legal support to Purchase and Contracts

  1. Review standard contract formulation by Contracts Head
  2. Manage any legal escalations with vendors and project management companies
  3. Ensure the department is providing legal support and legal opinion to other concerned departments on legal matters as and when required
  4. Provide contingent liability details and notes to auditors for finalization of company's financial statement

Oversee compliance of the Group to real estate laws

  1. Ensure compliance to real estate laws
  2. Review impact assessment due to changes in laws
  3. Coordinate with SBU Heads and Function Heads for course correction required as per new laws
