QS Engineer

About The Opportunity
A growth-oriented player in the Construction & Real Estate Development sector delivering commercial, residential and institutional projects across India. We hire pragmatic on-site engineering professionals who translate drawings and site realities into accurate costs, timely invoices and controlled budgets. This on-site Quantity Surveyor (QS Engineer) role will be based at project sites in India and reports to the Project Manager.

Role & Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) from drawings and site measurements to support tenders and procurement.
• Produce accurate cost estimates, resource schedules and price analyses for budgeting, tendering and value-engineering exercises.
• Manage interim payment certificates (IPCs), subcontractor payment verification and reconciliation to ensure timely cashflow and compliance.
• Identify, quantify and negotiate variations and claims with clients, subcontractors and suppliers; maintain audit-ready variation logs.
• Monitor project costs against budgets—generate weekly/monthly cost reports, forecast overruns and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate closely with Project Engineering, Procurement and Site teams to validate quantities, inspect material deliveries and support contract administration.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or equivalent with 3+ years of hands-on on-site QS experience in building or infrastructure projects in India.
• Proven experience preparing BOQs, detailed measurements, cost estimates and interim payment certificates.
• Strong knowledge of Indian measurement standards (DSR/SMM) and familiarity with common contract forms (Indian contracts/FIDIC).
• Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, templates) and experience with measurement software (CostX, Bluebeam or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; strong attention to detail and ability to work on-site under project timelines.

Preferred

• Experience with ERP/finance modules (e.g., SAP) and exposure to procurement/contractor management workflows.
• Prior involvement in value engineering, final accounts settlement and variation claim resolution on mid-large scale projects.
