Role Overview: The Technical Manager will be responsible for leading the mechanical design, development, and integration of camera hardware systems for automotive applications. This role requires expertise in mechanical engineering, thermal management, and packaging design to ensure camera systems (e.g., sensors, optics, enclosures) meet stringent automotive standards for durability, performance, and safety. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including camera hardware and software engineers, and OEM/Tier-1 partners to deliver innovative and scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical design and development of different Solution, including enclosures, mounts, and thermal management solutions for dash cameras, 360- degree systems, and ADAS-enabled smart cameras. Design robust, compact, and automotive-grade mechanical assemblies to protect camera components (e.g., CMOS sensors, lenses, ISPs) in harsh environments (vibration, temperature extremes, IP67/IP69K sealing). Develop thermal management solutions (e.g., heat sinks, thermal pads) to ensure optimal performance of camera hardware under high computational loads from vision AI processing. Collaborate with camera hardware (optics, sensors) and software (vision AI) teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with electronic and software components. Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and prototypes using tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo, ensuring compliance with automotive standards (e.g., AEC-Q100, ISO 26262). Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and simulations for structural integrity, vibration resistance, and thermal performance of camera assemblies. Work with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to define mechanical specifications based on vehicle integration requirements and user scenarios. Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs, ensuring durability, manufacturability, and compliance with automotive regulations. Resolve mechanical design issues, providing root cause analysis and solutions for integration or performance challenges. Stay updated on emerging trends in automotive mechanical design (e.g., lightweight materials, modular assemblies) and propose innovations to enhance product competitiveness. Mentor junior mechanical engineers and contribute to design reviews and technical documentation. Tracking & Reporting: Define and track key program KPIs, providing regular updates to internal leadership and customers. Supplier & ODM Engagement: Manage engagement with ODMs, suppliers, and third-party vendors, ensuring component availability, quality, and on-time integration. Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure the program adheres to automotive standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 14+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, preferably for automotive electronics or camera systems. Proven expertise in designing mechanical enclosures, mounts, and thermal solutions for automotive applications, ideally for vision systems (e.g., ADAS, surround-view cameras). Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo) and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) for structural and thermal analysis. Strong understanding of automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, IP67/IP69K) and environmental testing (e.g., vibration, thermal cycling, shock). Experience with designing for manufacturability (DFM) and collaborating with suppliers for high-volume production. Familiarity with camera hardware components (e.g., CMOS sensors, lenses) and their mechanical integration requirements. Excellent problem-solving skills and experience working with cross-functional teams and OEM/Tier-1 partners. Preferred Skills: Experience with automotive camera systems, such as dash cameras, 360- degree cameras, or driver monitoring systems. Knowledge of lightweight materials (e.g., aluminum, composites) and advanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining). Familiarity with vision AI hardware requirements (e.g., thermal management for edge AI processors) and integration with SoCs (e.g., Qualcomm, NVIDIA). Prior experience in global R&D environments or with automotive OEMs defining product specifications based on consumer needs. Why to join us? Lead the mechanical design of innovative camera systems that redefine automotive safety and mobility. Collaborate with a dynamic R&D team and global OEM partners in a cutting-edge technology environment. Access state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities to innovate in smart camera solutions and vision AI. Competitive compensation, career growth, and a culture of creativity and impact
