The Strategy and Technology Group (STG) is a new initiative within Aon to deliver innovative consulting and technology solutions to its clients. This is a great opportunity to join a growing group and to work with a highly skilled, collaborative team of actuarial and software experts who are using the latest technology to deliver next generation products for insurance markets.


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:


As a Platform Engineering Lead you will be responsible for leading team of exceptional Platform Engineers designing and building Aons new gen Platform product. Design and oversee the development of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure using (AWS/Azure/GCP).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


- Lead and manage the Platform Engineering Team, including recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluations.


- Collaborate with Cloud Architects to align the platform's architecture with company objectives.


- Establish best practices for infrastructure as code (IAC) implementation and automation.


- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient application deployment.


- Ensure robust security practices, including access controls, encryption, and compliance.


- Monitor and optimize cloud environments for performance and cost efficiency.


- Coordinate with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate infrastructure seamlessly.


- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.


- Drive continuous improvement through regular assessments and tech stack updates.


- Provide technical leadership in system design, development, and deployment strategies.


- Act as a technical point of contact for cross-functional teams and stakeholders.


- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies, industry trends, and best practices.


- Provide guidance to client support / IT teams in establishing best practices for supporting RPC Tyche applications and field support queries from those REQUIRED:


- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).


- Experience and proven track record of delivering Platform engineering or cloud infrastructure management.


- Proven leadership experience, managing and mentoring technical teams.


- Deep understanding of cloud platforms like (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure as code tools.


- Extensive knowledge of networking, security, and scalability concepts.


- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.


- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).


- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead troubleshooting efforts.


- Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders


- Relevant certifications like (AWS Certified Solutions Architect/Azure Solutions Architect/Google Cloud Professional Cloud

Architect) are a plus.


- The ability to work independently and know when to escalate or engage other teams for further support.


- Strong written and verbal English communications skills.


In addition, the following are highly desirable:


- Experience in building Insurance applications.


- Working in incubator or start-up
