Summary :The UtahState Board of Education IT department is working on acomprehensive modernization initiative referred to as the UtahSchools Information Management System (USIMS). We are replacing thecurrent legacy system data collection and associated reportingapplications and reports from the ground up. We are looking for ahigh energy adaptive team player with a great work ethic to joinour Information Technology (IT) team as a Data Engineer reportingto the USIMS Program Manager/Chief Product Owner. The Data Engineeris accountable for the architecting and solutioning of our datapipeline.The IdealCandidate:The ideal candidate forthis position has experience in Azure data pipelines dataarchitecture and warehousing and has dabbled in machine learning.They are a Data Engineer with a passion for data and for makingpeoples lives easier. They enjoy both philosophical discussions andphysical deployments and are comfortable working with multipleteams.Principal Duties:Asa Data Engineer your responsibilities willinclude:Develops andmaintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new APIintegrations to support continuing increases in data volume andcomplexity.Designs efficient data structuresand database schemas as well as working with distributed systemarchitecture and nonrelational databases.Collaborates with analytics and business teams to improvedata models that feed business intelligence tools increasing dataaccessibility and fostering datadriven decision making across theorganization.Implements processes and systemsto monitor data quality ensuring production data is always accurateand available for key stakeholders and business processes thatdepend on it.Performs data analysis requiredto troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution ofdata issues.Works closely with a team ofengineers product managers and analysts.Defines company data assets (data models) jobs topopulate data models.Designs dataintegrations and data quality framework.Designs and evaluates open source and vendor tools fordata lineage.Works closely with all businessunits and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term dataplatform architecture.Other duties asassigned.Requirements:Degree

Candidate must possess abachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer ScienceInformation Technology Business or equivalent experience.Functional Experience

Candidates musthave 5 years of experience with BI reporting tools like Power BI orTableau.FunctionalExperience

Candidates must have 3 years of experiencewith large sets of regulated data designing efficient datastructures and database schemas as well as working with distributedsystems architecture and CosmosDB.Functional Experience

Candidates musthave 3 years of experience with SQL and Python with a focus onbuilding reusable frameworks.Functional Experience

Candidates musthave 3 years experience with integration technologies and protocolssuch as SOAP REST JSON and APIs with experience in handlingstreaming data.Functional Experience Data Lakeand/or Date Warehousing Experience with planning and implementing adata warehouse data lake or other data repositories is required.Functional Experience Handson experience in Azure Data Factory DataBricks Azure StorageSQL Pools CI/CD Pipeline Design along with other Azure serviceslike functions and Logic apps.InterpersonalRelationships Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work wellwith others of all personality types while demonstratingproblemsolving and the ability to prioritize tasks.Communication

Candidates mustdemonstrate the ability to communicate in verbal and written formwith both technical and nontechnical personnel.Initiative
