And that starts with finding the right talent to help us get there.Software Engineering DirectorPosition Overview:The Consumer Health Services Director will lead Software Engineering teams that deliver innovative digital healthcare technology solutions to our patients, members and customers.? They will courageously push the boundaries of our agile engineering culture. They will passionately, persistently and productively challenge the status quo.? They will balance a wide-range of initiatives and manage relationships with other technology and business leaders to deliver on our strategic priorities. They will forge new relationships with our digital partners across the organization.? They will lead high-performing teams of front-line engineers who design, develop, implement and support customer-facing web applications using agile engineering practices.Responsibilities:Cultivate an empowered team of high performing engineers and engineering managers who are deeply passionate about building quality software productsFoster ongoing agile engineering transformation and continuous improvement throughout the organization, advocating for common engineering patterns, efficiency, quality, resiliency, security and performanceDemonstrate courage in pushing cultural boundaries in a transforming organizationEnsure applications are designed and constructed using solid engineering patterns?Create an environment of trust in which teams can "fail fast", developing the team in the processEncourage innovation and diversity of thought to solve complex business problemsRemove impediments to achieving quality standards, project deadlines and business objectivesWilling and able to jump in and solve technical problems when neededCalm and thoughtful leadership presence leading urgent eventsDevelop strong matrix relationships with product owners, experience designers, peer engineering teams, architects, infrastructure engineers, etc.Influence and communicate at all levels of the organizationEnsure holistic ownership and accountability for technology products and delivery, includingDeep understanding of the engineering practice maturity, strengths and opportunities in each product team, striving for continuous improvementEnd-to-end knowledge of product ecosystem, business transactions, technology stack, dependencies, and engineering practicesInfluence business partners at all levels of the organization to align future state business and technical road mapsEnsure technical product road maps are complete, consistent and feasibleConstruct business cases to influence support for large, transformative technology investmentsPartner with business and technical product owners to optimize working relationships and clarify roles and responsibilitiesEstablish organizational staffing strategy including budget planning, performance management and development of the teamDeliver through the team, using delegation effectively to deliverApply knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organizations goalsHave the technical expertise and presence to lead the troubleshooting conversation confidently, yet is able to discern when it is appropriate to pivot between tactical and strategic tasksKeep a pulse on industry trends and help the organization envision what is possibleQualifications:15 + years of total experienceFluent knowledge of software engineering principles & philosophies (SOLID, DDD, TDD, etc)Strong Emotional IntelligenceDemonstrated experience building cloud-based web applicationsExperience leading a team of software engineers and building high-performing teams.Demonstrated record of setting strategy and vision for a team of software engineers.Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems; solutions are innovative, thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives.Required Skills:Passion for TechnologyExperience as a Director for 3yrs & aboveStrong interpersonal/relationship management skills.Strong time and project management skills.Leadership / Managerial experience of handling managersTechnical hands-on experience, in early career stages, a must haveExperience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, TypescriptExperience with React (preferred), React Native (preferred), Angular 2+Web application development experience with compiled languages such as JavaSolid understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSSExperience with RESTful web servicesStrong experience with enterprise level N-tier web applicationsNoSQL Database - DynamoDB, MongoDB, CassandraExperience with cloud infrastructure
