Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Head of Website Development to lead our web development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of web developers, overseeing all aspects of website development projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, performant, and user-friendly websites. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a strategic mindset to drive the growth and success of our online presence.


Key Responsibilities:


Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of web developers, including hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, inspiring the team to achieve excellence.

Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and deliver website development projects on time and within budget.
  • Prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and ensure the successful completion of projects.

Technical Expertise:

  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to guide the team in making informed technical decisions.
  • Provide guidance on coding standards, security, scalability, and performance optimization, with a specific focus on Umbraco.

Umbraco Expertise:

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Umbraco CMS, including development, customization, and management of Umbraco-based websites.
  • Implement and maintain Umbraco best practices for content management and website performance.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a long-term website development strategy, with a specific emphasis on Umbraco, aligned with the company's goals.
  • Identify opportunities for website enhancements using Umbraco and propose innovative solutions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure the development team follows best practices for testing, debugging, and quality assurance within the Umbraco ecosystem.
  • Maintain high standards for Umbraco website performance, security, and accessibility.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as design, marketing, and IT, to ensure websites meet business objectives and brand standards, with a focus on Umbraco integration.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the web development budget, including resource allocation, cost control, and procurement of necessary tools or services related to Umbraco.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, web development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in web development, including front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Project management expertise, including Agile and/or Scrum methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of web development best practices, frameworks, and content management systems, with a specific emphasis on Umbraco.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and digital marketing is a plus.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, cloud technologies, and mobile web development is desirable.
