Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Import Documentation Officer specializing in the Sulphur Commodity, located in Pune. The Import Documentation Officer will be responsible for managing import documentation, including preparing and handling export documentation. The role requires effective document management and communication skills to ensure smooth and efficient operations concerning the import and export processes of sulphur commodities. Daily tasks will involve coordinating with various stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and verify all
    import documentation
    for sulphur shipments, including
    Bill of Lading, Bill of Entry, Packing List, Invoice, and LC documents
    .
  • Coordinate with
    shipping lines, freight forwarders, and CHA (Customs House Agents)
    to ensure smooth clearance of sulphur consignments.
  • Ensure compliance with
    DGFT, Customs, and Import-Export laws
    related to sulphur commodity.
  • Liaise with
    suppliers, banks, and port authorities
    for timely release of import documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of
    import permits, licences, and sulphur-related documentation
    .
  • Track shipment status and update management regarding vessel arrival, unloading, and clearance.
  • Handle
    insurance and claim documentation
    for sulphur cargo, if required.
  • Assist in negotiating with CHA/freight agents for cost-effective handling.
  • Support audit requirements by maintaining proper documentation and compliance.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of
    import documentation process
    (specific to bulk/commodity imports).
  • Experience in
    sulphur import / sulphur trading industry
    is
    mandatory
    .
  • Familiarity with
    customs clearance procedures, HS Codes, DGFT, EXIM policy
    .
  • Good coordination skills with
    CHA, shipping lines, and suppliers
    .
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and documentation tools.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Graduate / Postgraduate in
    Commerce / International Business / Supply Chain / Logistics
    .
  • Minimum
    3–5 years of experience
    in import documentation, preferably in
    sulphur commodity
    .
  • Knowledge of
    LC handling and international trade terms (FOB, CIF, CFR, etc.)
    .
  • Exposure to
    bulk chemical / sulphur imports
    will be given preference.
