Technical Test Lead

The candidate will be responsible for leading or assisting various SIT and UAT phases/activities for

complex ETL platforms. Technical Test lead is expected to contribute hands-on and identify key risks, assumptions, delivery dependencies, work with key stake holders to ensure impediments are addressed on time. Should possess leadership quality to take appropriate decisions to ensure day to day delivery and quality are maintained. You will work with the test engineers/vendor team to design and develop reusable test assets, participate in the test automation tool selection process, integrate test suites into the test management system and custom test harnesses, and perform other testing-related duties as required.

Your key responsibilities

Technical

• Liaising with business analyst to develop strong understanding of the business process and system requirements.
• Liaising with technical architects to develop strong understanding of the architecture and technology stack.
• Developing test plans and potentially even detailed test scenarios and test cases; ensuring maximum test coverage.
• Ensuring that testing standards, process, procedure and methodology are adhered to.
• Planning and execution of test cycles in an efficient and organized way.
• Thoroughly review and document quality before handover to SIT/UAT.
• Test Execution according to plan and thorough analysis of potential defects to help with triaging.
• Accurately reporting test preparation and execution progress identifying and escalating risks to delivery.
• Promoting the principles and ideals of automation testing and transferring skills to other QA staff as appropriate.
• Maintain a current working knowledge of the key business systems and future developments.
• Work with Test Managers, Change team to identify the quality implications of known bugs and the impact of proposed changes to product definition on the testing process.
• Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and tests to be developed.
• Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test objects developed and test environments used.
• Apply risk-based techniques to develop, maintain, and execute test suites.
• Work with the Development team/Automation Team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects.
• Supporting the build master implement/improve build test processes, environments, and scripts.

Management and Supervisory

• Must be able to take on leadership responsibilities and influence the direction of the QA effort, and its schedule and prioritization.
• Provide the Test Manager with accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies.
• Assist the Test Manager in preparing test plans and schedules.
• Proactively drive lessons learnt and continuous improvement within the team.
• Provide technical and functional guidance to test analysts and/or junior-level test engineers.
• Provide the Test Manager with performance assessments for assigned junior personnel.
• Participate in interviews for Test Engineer and Test Technician candidates.

Your skills and experience

• Should have 9-11 years total test experience with 7-9 years of relevant ETL experience.
• Must have lead team(s) in ETL/Data Warehouse projects/programs. Strong in SQL preparation in Oracle RDMS including joins, aggregation, merges, partition, cursors, minus, dynamic SQL.
• Experience in leading environments set-up / preparation for Integration/Acceptance testing.
• Experience in performing ETL loads and debugging failures / preliminary analysis in test environments.
• Experience in managing multiple versions of source data required for Integration/Acceptance testing.
• Intermediate skills in Python programming, packaging and publishing for ETL/DW test automation.
• Unix essentials including df, du, top, ps, lsof, fuser, awk, grep, sed, vi, diff, compression, ssh, sftp.
• Experience in scheduling tools like Autosys, Control-M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler.
• Experience in testing with large data sets and reconciliation of different versions of the data sets as part of regression testing.
• Ability to understand functional specifications from the customer perspective and design appropriate acceptance tests.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different levels of stakeholders in application delivery, QA and business groups.
• Thorough understanding of test principles such as unit, smoke, functional (black box/white box), user acceptance and usability testing.
• Exposure to structured software development life-cycle methodologies, preferably agile models
• Experience and working knowledge of tools such as ALM, creating test plans and test cases.
• Ability to analyse defects and spot trends, accurately log defects, escalate issues and risks and provide accurate management reporting.
• Experience in capturing / communicating requirements for test automation.
• Experience of working in tight deadlines in a mature time-boxed testing environment.
• Be able to demonstrate consistent and good judgement of assessing severity of issues.
• Understanding of multi-tiered technology architecture.
• Experience of testing services in Investment Banking Domain.
• Quick Learner Ability to learn new technology, tools and best practices in solution areas.
• Should be good at problem solving and debugging with excellent analytical skills.
