About the role:

The Head of Career Outreach is responsible for leading the strategic direction of career outreach initiatives, cultivating relationships with employers, industry professionals, and community organizations to create job opportunities, internships, and mentorship programs for students, alumni, or employees. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in career development, employer relations, and partnership building. The Head of Career Outreach will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness of career services and enhance employment outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

●     Strategic Planning & Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive career outreach strategies that align with the institution’s or organization’s goals, focusing on building strong employer relationships and increasing opportunities for students or employees.

●     Employer Relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, industry leaders, and community organizations to identify job openings, internships, and other career development opportunities.

●     Networking & Community Engagement: Represent the institution or organization at career fairs, industry events, and networking functions to promote the career services program and engage with potential employers and industry partners.

●     Job & Internship Placement: Oversee the identification, recruitment, and placement of students or employees into internships, jobs, and other career development opportunities, ensuring alignment with their career goals and interests.

●     Collaboration with Academic Departments: Work closely with faculty and academic departments to understand students’ skills, competencies, and academic progress, ensuring career opportunities are relevant and accessible.

●     Career Fairs & Employer Events: Organize and oversee career fairs, employer networking events, and other outreach initiatives that connect students or employees with prospective employers.

●     Program Development: Develop specialized programs to enhance career preparation, such as employer-sponsored workshops, resume-building sessions, mock interviews, and industry panels.

●     Data Analysis & Reporting: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of career outreach initiatives by collecting data on employer engagement, placement rates, and student or employee satisfaction. Prepare regular reports for leadership.

●     Advocacy & Communication: Promote career services and outreach opportunities across the institution or organization through newsletters, social media, presentations, and other communication channels.

●     Team Management: Lead and manage the career outreach team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to staff members.

●     Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure that outreach strategies are inclusive and accessible to all students, alumni, or employees, promoting diverse career opportunities.

●     Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with employers, students, alumni, and other stakeholders.

●     Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with employers and industry partners.

●     Knowledge of labor market trends and the challenges facing job seekers.

●     Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.

●     Data-driven mindset with experience in tracking and analyzing career services outcomes.

●     Proficiency in using CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and career management software.

● Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
