As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be leading large, strategic, or complex areas that have a clear impact on the success of the company. Your team will be primarily responsible for building and maintaining TCGplayer's Point-of-Sale product with an emphasis on supporting store operations like employee and customer management and other back office needs. You will be uplifting legacy applications into a microservice based architecture using the latest and greatest technologies. You will work closely with other development teams to bring a cohesive and intuitive selling experience to our customers across TCGplayer's suite of tools. Due to the criticality of point-of-sale software to a seller's business, you are someone who places extra rigor on software quality, security, observability and more. If you're an experienced and disciplined engineer, with a desire to make a difference in the way we build new tools, this might be the perfect opportunityWhat you will accomplish: Build a best-in-class Point Of Sale system for Local Game Stores, used by thousands of customers domestically and internationally, allowing them to profitably grow their business in an omni-channel environmentYou will lean on your extensive experience to set development trends and architectural direction for your team and the Engineering organization as a whole.You will work with your manager to decompose and plan large technical efforts into manageable schedules to ensure the on-time delivery of software.You will bridge the gap between Engineering and other stakeholders such as Architecture, Ops, Product and even senior management.You will mentor and level up the members of your team.What you will bring: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or a combination of education and experience12 or more years of experience as a software engineer with distributed systems5+ years of C# (ASP.Net/.Net Core)Significant experience in high volume production systems design with consideration for high availability, disaster recovery, performance, fault tolerance, and securityExpert knowledge of RDBMS technologies (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch)Expert knowledge of APM (Application Process Monitoring), particularly Scalyr/DataSet for logs and New Relic for dashboards & alertingExpert knowledge of event/stream processing mechanisms, specifically Kafka, but also with AWS SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ, or AzureBusExperience designing and developing microservices in an AWS cloud based architectureExcellent verbal and written communication, leadership and collaboration skillsPlease see the Talent Privacy Notice for information regarding howeBayhandles your personal data collected when you use theTCGplayerCareers website or apply for a job withTCGplayer.
