How we started:

Founded in 2019, Uravu Labs was born out of a shared vision to address water scarcity issues, particularly inspired by the founders' own experiences on the NIT Calicut campus during their studies. Driven by a passion for innovation and sustainability, Uravu Labs embarked on a mission to develop cutting-edge solutions that could extract water from the air using renewable energy sources. The company's journey began with the realization that existing methods, such as conventional atmospheric water generators, were not entirely sustainable due to their heavy reliance on electricity and the use of refrigerants with high global warming potential. Determined to make a difference, the founders set out to create a solution that would be truly renewable and sustainable. Their dedication led them to explore alternative approaches, resulting in the development of groundbreaking technology that harnesses renewable energy to produce clean water from the air.

Role Overview:

We are a fast-growing deep tech startup, building innovative solutions and scaling rapidly. As we expand, we are actively engaging in fundraising and strategic partnerships. We're looking for a proactive Legal Associate to manage contracts, ensure compliance, and support investment processes that keep our growth on track.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate all types of commercial and investment-related agreements, including SHA, SSA, term sheets, NDAs, vendor agreements, service agreements, and board/shareholder resolutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and protection of the company's interests.
• Regulatory Compliance: Track and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including MCA, RBI, SEBI, labour laws, and other statutory requirements, providing proactive guidance on compliance best practices.
• Due Diligence Support: Assist in due diligence processes during funding rounds, partnerships, or other strategic transactions, identifying potential legal risks and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
• Legal Research: Research applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to provide practical, business-focused legal advice for operational and strategic decisions.
• Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate with clients, investors, external counsel, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to facilitate smooth legal workflows.
• Corporate Governance: Prepare board/shareholder resolutions, maintain statutory registers, minutes, and filings, ensuring timely and accurate corporate records.
• Dispute Management: Support in resolving legal disputes, coordinating with external counsel where necessary.
• Liaison with Counsel: Work with external lawyers, auditors, and other advisors to address both ongoing operational matters and strategic projects.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB); LLM is a plus.
• 1–3 years of experience in corporate law, contracts, compliance, and investment transactions, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
• Strong understanding of company law, commercial agreements, labour laws, and fundraising compliance.
• Experience with MCA filings, due diligence, and regulatory interactions.
• Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced setting.
