Head of EngineeringLocation: Remote (India)Role Type: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe’re looking for a Head of Engineering who thrives on both building and leading — a player-coach who can architect scalable systems, write production-quality code, and inspire a team of top engineers. You’ll drive the technical vision behind LuminaData’s AI-powered finance automation platform, partnering closely with the Co-Founder and CTO to shape our product roadmap, scale infrastructure, and build a high-performance engineering culture.This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves creating, iterating, and delivering — not just managing from the sidelines.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical LeadershipDefine and drive the company’s technical vision, architecture, and infrastructure strategy.Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.Oversee architecture across frontend (React/Next.js) and backend (Python/Django) services for modularity and reliability.Lead system design and optimization in AWS Cloud, leveraging ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.Establish and enforce best practices for CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and system monitoring.Ensure cloud systems are secure, cost-efficient, and aligned with SOC2 and compliance standards.Team ManagementLead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of engineers across frontend and backend.Foster a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.Run effective sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design sessions.Recruit and onboard world-class talent as the company scales.Product & DeliveryCollaborate closely with Product and Design to turn business goals into scalable technical solutions.Balance near-term execution with long-term architectural investments.Ensure the platform delivers reliability, scalability, and performance at every layer.Qualifications8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or tech lead role.Strong proficiency in Python (Django or FastAPI) and experience building APIs and distributed systems.Proven experience managing AWS infrastructure (ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, CloudFormation/Terraform).Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) and integrating backend services.Deep understanding of system architecture, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), and CI/CD pipelines.Track record of building and scaling production systems in fast-paced environments.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mentorship skills.Passion for building great products and leading by example — you code, you ship, you lead.Bonus PointsExperience with AI/ML systems, data pipelines, or analytics-heavy platforms.Exposure to finance, ERP, or automation workflows.Prior startup or early-stage scaling experience.Why Join LuminaDataAt LuminaData, we’re reimagining how finance teams work — building intelligent, AI-driven automation that eliminates manual drudgery and unlocks human creativity.As Head of Engineering, you’ll:Own the technical direction of a fast-growing company.Build and scale systems that redefine productivity in finance.Shape an engineering culture grounded in innovation, velocity, and impact.If you’re a builder at heart — someone who leads through code, clarity, and conviction — we’d love to meet you.
