Job Title : Technical Training Manager-Manufacturing

Job Location: Oragadam, Chennai


Job Overview:

The Technical Training Manager will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive technical training programs to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing and automotive industry. This includes managing external vendor relationships, working with academia, planning infrastructure for training sessions, and ensuring technical relevance and excellence in content delivery. The individual will play a crucial role in supporting the organizations strategic initiatives around new technologies such as Electric Vehicles (EV), Hydrogen cells, and Battery technologies. The role also demands strong stakeholder management, budgeting, and scheduling skills to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of training programs.


Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including functional heads and senior management, to identify and validate training needs.
  • Prioritize training initiatives based on business goals and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal facilitators or subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver high-quality training.
  • Serve as a bridge between business needs and learning solutions, ensuring alignment with technical development strategies.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the automotive and manufacturing industries, particularly in emerging technologies such as EVs, Hydrogen cells, and Battery technology.
  • Evaluate and validate the technical content delivered by external vendors and ensure its relevance to current and future business needs.
  • Understand and promote the use of simulations, virtual reality (VR), and other innovative training methodologies in technical learning.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements and trends that may impact the business and its training needs.

Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain a pool of external vendors for different technical training topics.
  • Validate and compare offerings across multiple vendors, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Select the most suitable vendor based on content relevance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Continuously assess vendor performance and course effectiveness through feedback and post-session analysis.

Budget Planning:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the Technical Training department.
  • Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources while maintaining high-quality training delivery.
  • Track spending and adjust forecasts to ensure alignment with organizational financial goals.

Infrastructure & Resource Planning:

  • Plan and manage the necessary infrastructure and resources (facilities, equipment, etc.) to support technical training sessions.
  • Ensure that all facilities are adequately prepared and meet the required standards for effective training delivery.
  • Coordinate with IT and other departments to ensure technical requirements such as simulations and training tools are in place.

Academia & Industry Networks:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions and external experts to leverage best practices and up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Collaborate with academia for knowledge sharing, co-development of training modules, or guest lectures.
  • Keep updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements in the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

Soft Skills & Relationship Building:

  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, exercising influence without formal authority.
  • Persuade and negotiate effectively to ensure smooth coordination of resources and training schedules.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills to manage relationships with vendors, facilitators, and participants.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering, Technical Education, or related field. A master’s degree or specialization in Learning & Development or Technical Education is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical training, preferably in the manufacturing or automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies in automotive manufacturing (EV, Hydrogen cells, Battery technology).
  • Proven experience in vendor management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to influence without authority and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong budget management skills and experience planning technical training infrastructure.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Expertise in simulation technologies and virtual training environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
