Company Description
Humane Society International/India, is a part of the Humane Society International, and is dedicated to advancing animal welfare in India through various initiatives such as fieldwork, policy formation, humane education, direct care, and capacity building. The organization focuses on protecting street dogs, wild animals, marine mammals, and fighting against animal cruelty in various forms.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Manager in the Humane Entrepreneurship Program at Humane Society International India in Hyderabad. The Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the program, developing strategic initiatives, overseeing partnerships, organizing events, and ensuring the successful implementation of projects.
Program management (80%)
1. Designs, develops and manages the Humane Entrepreneurship Program (HEP) within the Farm Animal Protection department.
2. Works with experts at HSI to develop a strategy for creating a skill development and incubation program for businesses that design, product and manufacture alternatives to animal products in the food and materials sectors.
3. Identifies and maintains working relationships with humane businesses.
4. Engages with Government bodies to promote humane businesses.
5. Engages with investors, venture capitals and funds to create funding opportunities for the humane entrepreneurs.
6. Develops standard operating procedures, modules and guidance materials for humane businesses to improve animal welfare practices in animal production systems.
7. Drives, manages and coordinates coalitions, associations and partnerships arising out of capacity building activities.
8. Assists the Senior Manager, Farm Animal Protection and Cruelty Response raise funds by providing technical expertise, attending meetings developing donor reports.
9. Collaborates with the media department to develop the HEP’s media strategy including preparing and pitching press releases, op. eds. and blog posts, and conducting media interviews.
10. Secures speaking opportunities at conferences and events sponsored by business organizations.
11. Develops program proposals for capacity building programs for identified core groups.
12. Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
Staff management: 20%
13. Manages the Humane Entrepreneurship Program team and ensures that staff achieve their goals, including providing staff with guidance and advice, training, performance management, leadership development and career development.
14. Oversees the implementation of projects by interns and volunteers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduate degree or equivalent work experience required.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of work experience preferably in the incubator or start-up sector required.
3. Management/supervisory experience preferred.
4. Experience in preparing technical documentation, specifically, the ability to extract key messages and information and compress them into prose that fits the requirements of various digital/social formats.
Pay Range:
INR 9,19,800 to 11,95,600 LPA
