About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, specifically Microsoft Azure, and hands-on expertise in Snowflake, Kafka, and CI/CD pipelines.
The ideal candidate will manage and enhance our cloud-based database environment while ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance standards. You will collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, Engineering, Security, and Data Science teams to support mission-critical data operations and Responsibilities :
- Manage the full lifecycle of Microsoft Azure resources, including provisioning, configuration, and optimization.- Set up and maintain access controls, policies, and identity management using Azure Active Directory (AAD) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Monitor resource utilization and performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Track and analyze cloud spending, generating reports and recommending cost-saving measures.
- Implement governance policies for security, compliance, and operational best practices (e.g., Azure Policy, Blueprints).
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and administration of Snowflake data warehouses.
- Define and enforce security best practices in Snowflake, including network policies, data masking, role-based access controls (RBAC), and MFA.
- Monitor and optimize Snowflake query performance, compute costs, and storage usage.
- Design and manage secure and efficient data sharing across business units or external partners.
- Stay up-to-date with Snowflakes new features and evaluate them through proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives.
- Administer and maintain Kafka clusters, including broker configuration, topic management, and partition optimization.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of the messaging infrastructure.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and throughput; troubleshoot and resolve issues in real-time.
- Implement Kafka security features, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to automate deployment, testing, and monitoring of infrastructure and database changes.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to streamline code integration and release processes.
- Apply infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.
- Analyze and improve existing operational standards and processes to enhance system efficiency, maintainability, and visibility.
- Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring tasks, onboarding, incident response, and system maintenance.
- Ensure minimal downtime and proactive resolution of database-related issues, including alerts, patches, and backup strategies.
- Participate in regular audits and ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.- 5+ years of experience in cloud-based database administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including architecture, security, and performance tuning.
- Strong experience with Kafka (e.g., Apache Kafka, Confluent).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation using GitLab or similar tools.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
