Key Responsibilities
Software License Management:
Track and maintain an inventory of all software assets, including licenses, versions, and usage data.
Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and prevent unauthorized usage.
Vendor Management:
Collaborate with software vendors for renewals, audits, and negotiations.
Manage vendor relationships to optimize licensing agreements and cost savings.
Compliance and Audits:
Prepare for and respond to software audits by vendors.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding software usage.
Optimization:
Analyze software usage patterns to identify opportunities for cost savings through license optimization or consolidation.
Recommend and implement strategies for improving software utilization.
Asset Tracking and Reporting:
Maintain an accurate software asset database using tools such as ServiceNow, Flexera, or Snow Software.
Generate regular reports on software usage, costs, and compliance status.
Process Development:
Define and implement SAM policies, processes, and best practices.
Educate employees on SAM processes and software usage policies.
Tool Management:
Administer and configure Software Asset Management tools to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
Primary Skills
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, Snow License Manager, or Aspera.
Strong knowledge of software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription, SaaS).
Understanding of vendor-specific licensing agreements (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, SAP).
Familiarity with ITIL framework, particularly IT Asset Management (ITAM).
Experience with ITSM tools and integrations (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy).
Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze software usage data and identify optimization opportunities.
Experience with reporting and visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel for presenting software metrics.
Compliance and Audit Skills:
Strong understanding of software compliance requirements and regulatory standards.
Experience in preparing for and managing vendor software audits.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with vendors and stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple assets and processes.
Problem-solving skills to address complex licensing and compliance issues.
Must-Have Skills
Proficiency with Software Asset Management tools (e.g., ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, or Snow).
In-depth understanding of software licensing models and vendor agreements.
Strong knowledge of ITIL and IT Asset Management best practices.
Ability to perform software usage analysis and create optimization strategies.
Hands-on experience managing vendor audits and ensuring compliance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Technical knowledge of IT systems and integrations related to SAM
