We are seeking a Forestry Carbon Markets Expert with a strong background in forestry science and hands-on experience in forest-based carbon projects. This role is a unique opportunity to lead project documentation, monitoring, and implementation for carbon initiatives, primarily focused on *Natural Based Carbon Accounting (NBCA)* projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Design & Documentation: Draft high-quality Project Design Documents (PDDs) for forestry carbon projects, ensuring compliance with international standards such as VCS, CDM, Gold Standard and others.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Oversee the on-ground monitoring processes, ensuring precision in data collection and reporting. Develop monitoring plans that align with verification standards and utilize advanced tools, such as remote sensing and GIS.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with local communities, field teams, and project partners to ensure seamless project implementation and success on the ground.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all projects meet regulatory and sustainability criteria in carbon markets including adherence to ICVCM, ICROA, CORSIA etc frameworks.
- Technical Expertise: Provide insights into carbon accounting methodologies, forest management, and ecological assessments to enhance project accuracy and impact.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Forestry* or a closely related field, with a focus on forest carbon dynamics, forest ecology, or natural resources.
- Proven experience in on-ground implementation of forestry projects and familiarity with carbon offset and sustainability reporting standards.
- Strong technical skills in carbon markets and forestry project documentation (e.g., PDDs, monitoring reports).
- Proficient in Carbon Accounting for monitoring and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum 2 years experience.
