Vedanta Aluminium operates a world-class 1.8 MTPA aluminium smelter and 3,615 MW thermal power generation facility in Jharsuguda, Odisha. To partner with us in this exciting journey and unlock new values for the business, we are looking for passionate professionals in the position of Chief Technical Officer Power Plant-1215 MW, Vedanta Jharsuguda.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • To ensure the excellent upkeep and maintenance of the plant to maximize plant availability factor to meet the load demand and Power Load Factor (PLF)
  • Work in close coordination with the technical service providers and ensure that they are performing as per the identified performance parameters
  • Provide guidance and direction in relation to the day-to-day operations of the CPP
  • Develop the SLAs, systems and processes for the various SBU Heads
  • Drive de-bottlenecking projects to increase PLF
  • Effectively manage fuel for low cost of generation
  • Articulation of SHE policy and facilitate re-certification to ISO-14001, OHSAS 18001 / integrated Management systems
  • Support management in succession planning, recruitment and performance management for the Plant


Education Qualification | Work-Ex| Desired Attributes


  • BE/ B Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Power/ C&I
  • 16 - 20 years of experience with a power plant of 200 MW plus
  • Strong knowledge of the Power sector industry
  • In-depth knowledge of power plant operations
  • Ability to quickly identify issues, implement balanced options and undertake balanced decisions
  • Experience and competence in operating and managing a power station – all technical, commercial and administrative
  • Knowledge of construction, erection and commissioning of power plant – technical and project management /
  • construction management systems
  • Knowledge of power equipment markets and vendors in national and international arena
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills
