Job Title : Mainframe Developer

Location : Bangalore (Preferred), Gurgaon, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad.

Experience Required : 7+ Years

Employment Type : 12 Months with possible extension

Role Overview :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in mainframe application development, maintenance, and support. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SORT, along with hands-on experience in designing, coding, testing, and deploying mainframe-based applications. Exposure to the financial domain (Cards, Payments, Banking) will be a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SORT utilities.

- Analyze business requirements and translate them into high-quality technical solutions.

- Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning for mainframe applications.

- Work with Stored Procedures and IMS DB (good to have) for database operations and integration.

- Utilize tools such as Endevor, Changeman, Xpediter, and SPUFI for version control, debugging, and database access.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts, testers, and other developers) to deliver solutions on time.

- Participate in code reviews, peer reviews, and defect resolution to ensure application quality and compliance.

- Provide production support for incident management, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.

- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system design, specifications, and deployment procedures.

- Work in an Agile/Waterfall delivery model, contributing to planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

Required Skills :

Strong hands-on expertise in :

1. COBOL

2. JCL

3. DB2

4. SORT utilities

- Proficiency in Mainframe debugging, performance tuning, and production support.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Good to Have Skills :

- Knowledge of Stored Procedures and IMS DB.

- Familiarity with mainframe tools such as Endevor, Changeman, Xpediter, and SPUFI.

- Experience in the Financial Services domain (Cards, Payments, Banking applications).

- Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices for mainframe development.
