Job Title : Software Support Engineer

Job Description :

We are looking for a highly skilled Software Support Engineer to join our technical support team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting complex software platforms, strong proficiency in Linux environments, and the ability to troubleshoot and debug applications written in Java, Perl, and Python, Javascript. This role requires strong analytical skills, automation expertise, and excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

- Provide technical support for complex software platforms and applications.

- Work in rotational shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage, adhering to US work hours.

- Utilize strong Linux experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CPU, memory, storage, and caching.

- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, and Perl for tasks such as ad hoc debugging and special automation apps.

- Make changes to startup scripts, start/stop applications, and analyze runtime and OS performance metrics.

- View, filter, and analyze logs; create scripts for log filtering and analysis.

- Troubleshoot and trace communications between web UI and backend applications.

- Debug applications written in Java, Perl, and Python.

- Edit and utilize various text processing utilities in Linux environments.

- Understand web application architecture and database systems; run SQL queries as needed.

- Develop tools and scripts to automate processes and streamline operations.

- Communicate effectively with developers to report issues and manage application deployments.

- Make minor changes to application code as needed.

- Maintain system status and reporting.

- Create and update knowledge base and how-to documentation for Level 1 support teams.

- Work with the development team to manage releases, apply patches, and upgrade applications with minimal support.

- Understand inter-process communication and troubleshoot communication issues between different servers/hosts.

- Work with development engineers to suggest improvements, and expand support documentation as appropriate

Requirements :

Required :

- 5+ years of experience supporting complex software platforms.

- Rotation work schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage.

- Strong proficiency in Linux environments and understanding of Linux processing metrics.

- Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation and debugging.

- Ability to do basic troubleshooting of Web based applications using JavaScript and HTML5

- Ability to troubleshoot backend applications written in Java, Perl, and Python.

- Proficiency in editing using native Linux editors and text processing utilities.

- Strong understanding of web application architecture and database systems.

- Ability to troubleshoot and trace communications between web UI and backend applications.

- Strong SQL background for running queries and analyzing database issues.

- Experience in developing tools and scripts for automation and operational efficiency.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Ability to manage full deployment cycles for applications, including patching and upgrades.

Preferred :

- Experience supporting Windows-based applications and tools.

- Familiarity with IDEs for debugging and development.

- Knowledge of Windows logging and system tools.

- Willingness to contribute to the development of small tools and applications beyond support activities.

Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
