JOB DESCRIPTION


Position: – Assistant Manager – Content Accessibility & Localisation


Purpose:

The candidate will be part of the content hygiene operations dedicated to enabling the closed captioning workflow process according to industry standards. The goal is to create a closed captioning process that leverages innovative AI solutions to facilitate quick and accurate ancillary deliverables. Transcription will be automated and needs to be checked for grammatical and spelling errors. Primarily, closed captions will be the focus, but ultimately targeting the entire content localization ecosystem.


You will need to show excellent reporting skills, be technically minded, have a deep understanding of subtitling quality specs be solution-focused, and have strong communication skills. You will also need excellent time management and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, manage the demands of a fast-paced environment, and have demonstrable experience working to tight deadlines.



Education: Graduate or Engineering; Technical background preferred


Experience: 8-10 years of experience in working/freelancing for organisations into content transcription, dubbing etc.


Location: Mumbai


Reporting Relationship:

Business/Channel/Function: Broadcast Operations and Network Engineering




Key Responsibilities:

• Proofread and edit closed captions to ensure they adhere to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style guidelines.

• Ensure the reviewed content is

a. to the context,

b. accurate

c. easy-to-read.

• The Context of the closed caption text must convey the actual intent of the ongoing video about Accessibility Standards for Persons with Disabilities ( Hearing Impaired)

• In the case of translations, the creative intent of the ongoing scene must be preserved and at par with the original language in which it was made.

• Use specialised subtitling software to synchronize subtitles with audio/dialogue, considering pacing, scene changes, and on-screen text.

• Work closely with content creators, video editors, and project managers to coordinate subtitling tasks and ensure timely delivery of finalised content.

• Stay updated on language trends, cultural references, and industry-specific terminology to produce high-quality subtitles.

• Look at the end-to-end process of closed captioning and keep improving the TAT

• Think Big – have a vision for building other services of the subtitling ecosystem, such as dubbing, scripting, etc.

2. Technical –

• Understanding quality aspects of Broadcast & OTT content

• Proficiency in at least two languages, including written and spoken communication fluency.

• Previous experience in subtitling, captioning, or a related field, with knowledge of subtitling software (e.g., Aegisub, Subtitle Edit, EZtitles etc.).

• Familiarity with multimedia formats (e.g., video files, streaming platforms) and understanding of accessibility standards for subtitles.

• Understanding of AI, API integrations.
