Responsibilities of an Assistant Dean (Law)

Academic leadership & curriculum development

  • Overseeing and enhancing law programs (BBA LL.B., BA LL.B., LL.M.). This includes developing new courses, innovating programs, and ensuring academic quality and accreditation.

Faculty oversight & mentoring

  • Supervising faculty members, guiding junior professors and ensuring high teaching standards.

Student engagement

  • Handling matters like mentoring, discipline, and academic feedback.

Administrative duties

  • Managing departmental operations, coordinating between committees, and participating in academic meetings and strategic planning.

Research & collaboration

  • Encouraging interdisciplinary and international research collaborations and initiatives.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Law (mandatory for faculty-level and leadership positions)

Experience:

  • Several years of academic teaching experience (e.g., 10+ years as an Assistant/Associate Professor)
  • Experience in program/curriculum development, student mentoring, and administrative roles.

Additional Skills:

  • Leadership qualities, effective communication, strategic vision, and a track record in research and scholarly work.
