Youll play a key role in building modern, scalable software systems from the ground up, shaping the future of fan engagement and digital innovation in global sport.Were looking for a collaborative and hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex problems with elegant, scalable solutions. Youll lead by example - writing clean, maintainable code while fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and innovation.Key Responsibilities : - Write clean, efficient, and reusable backend code following best practices and coding standards.- Lead and influence technical design, architecture, and backend development of digital projects.- Work closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Frontend teams to define and deliver robust technical solutions.- Set up development frameworks for automation, CI/CD, release management, and code quality.- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to mid- and junior-level engineers.- Be a champion of developer experience, always seeking to improve efficiency and maintainability.- Promote a blameless culture of learning, code review, and technical excellence.- Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and best practices, particularly in sports and digital innovation.Requirements : - 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior backend role.- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.- Solid understanding of database systems, including : 1. Document-based : MongoDB2. Relational : MySQL or PostgreSQL- Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) and RESTful API design.- Strong grasp of software architecture principles and design patterns for scalable systems.- Understanding of DevOps culture, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments (AWS or similar).- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.- A continuous learner with a growth mindset, eager to improve both technically and professionally.Nice to Have : - A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.- Experience working in sports, media, or digital fan engagement platforms.- Exposure to microservices architecture or serverless computing.- - - - - - - (ref:hirist.tech)
