About the Role

We're looking for a
Backend Lead Engineer
to lead and scale our backend systems and services. You'll play a key role in architecting reliable, high-performance solutions and mentoring a small but growing backend team. If you're hands-on, passionate about technology, and thrive in a fast-moving startup environment — this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor
    a team of backend engineers, ensuring code quality, efficiency, and alignment with best practices.
  • Architect, design, and implement
    scalable backend systems using
    TypeScript

  • Drive system design discussions, enforce
    design patterns
    , and establish coding standards.
  • Manage
    PostgreSQL
    databases — including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, system architecture discussions, and sprint planning.
  • Ensure robust testing and observability practices (unit, integration, and monitoring).
  • Lead by example — remain hands-on with code, especially for complex or high-impact features.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional backend development experience, with at least 1–2 years in a
    technical lead or senior developer
    capacity.
  • Strong expertise in
    TypeScript
    and

  • Solid understanding of
    PostgreSQL
    , relational database design, and query optimization.
  • Strong grasp of
    software design principles and patterns (SOLID, Clean Architecture, etc.)

  • Proven experience building and maintaining
    RESTful APIs
    and distributed systems.
  • Ability to
    mentor junior engineers
    , conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering excellence.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
