Role Purpose:

The Assistant Manager – Payroll will be responsible for end-to-end payroll management for India, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, statutory compliance with Indian labor and tax regulations, and payroll-related reporting. The role requires strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of Indian statutory laws, and effective coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Validate and reconcile inputs such as attendance, leave records, new joiners, exits, salary revisions, and variable pay.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity and other applicable labor laws).
  • Handle employee queries related to salary, taxation, and payroll policies.
  • Prepare payroll MIS, reports, and analytics for management review.
  • Stay updated on changes in labor laws, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Support process automation, audits, and continuous improvement in payroll systems.

Education:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or HR. MBA/PGDM or CMA/ CA
  • Experience: 7-10 years of payroll management experience (India payroll).

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (SAP, ADP etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, reconciliations).
  • Knowledge of income tax and statutory compliance.

Behavioural Skills:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
