Position Title: Senior Legal Counsel, India

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat


Responsibilities:


  • Guide and advise daily GCC activities to protect the company interest and ensure the activities are compliant with all the applicable laws and regulations, and to minimize business risks.


  • Act as a trusted advisor to GCC management with respect to legal, regulatory and compliance risks on major business decisions, projects and other important matters.


  • Lead efforts for GCC to detect and evaluate legal, regulatory and compliance risk exposure and provide support to manage such risks in collaboration with other risk and control functions including legal affairs, ethics & compliance, regulatory affairs, government affairs, internal audit, controllership and internal controls.


  • Implement WHQ policies, and develop local legal polices and procedures, to enhance corporate governance and risk management and collaborate with other colleagues in risk and control functions throughout Kraft Heinz to drive a culture of compliance.


  • Collaborate with People & Performance on managing employment and labour risks, including supporting on internal investigations and resulting disciplinary processes.


  • Draft, review and revise contracts and documents and Stay abreast of, advise and interact with the various statutory bodies to ensure the company‘s compliance with the various rules and regulations and Provide trainings and education to employees on legal awareness and knowledge.


  • Manage external legal counsels and expenses, and build up and maintain good relationship with law firms to ensure the company interests are well-represented n Work closely with external scretarial firms and other functions to implement and maintain a good corporate governance, including but without limitation to keeping company records and registers, scheduling shareholder and board meetings and preparing meeting minutes, furnishing filings, authenticating and signing financial statements and reports


  • Represent and protect Kraft Heinz’s company interest in India other than GCC operations



Requirements:


  • Bachelor dgree or above, major in law, graduated from reputable law schools, bar qualification (AIBE), member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (CSI) will be a plus


  • 10 + years of expererience in legal field, preferrably with both multinational companies and reputable law firms


  • Solid knowledge of laws and practices in India, especially with regards to labour and employment, tax, business outsourcing, corporate governance


  • Strong interpersonal skills, sensitive to different cultures, ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build relationships across the Globe, work collaboratively with colleagues in other functions and locations


  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations and their impact on business


  • Hands-on, pragmatic, problem solver, eager to learn and willing to take challenges


  • Proactive work attitude, can work under pressure and tight timeline, with minimal supervision
