Design Project Manager

As a Product Principal Designer, you lead the vision, strategy, and delivery of world-class digital product experiences. You connect design excellence with business strategy—guiding multidisciplinary teams from discovery through delivery while integrating product thinking, system design, and cross-functional alignment. Operating at both strategic and executional levels, you partner with product managers, design researchers, engineers, and business leaders to ensure that the design direction aligns with user value, feasibility, and long-term scalability. You inspire teams to drive measurable product and business outcomes through human-centered design. You also play a pivotal project management role—facilitating scope alignment, prioritization, and cross-team coordination to deliver on time and with excellence. As a people leader, you mentor Principal Designers and other senior contributors, fostering an environment of growth, accountability, and experimentation. Project Responsibilities · Lead multidisciplinary design initiatives—partnering with researchers, designers, product managers, engineers, and data leads to shape and execute cohesive product strategies. · Translate user research, analytics, and business requirements into actionable design frameworks, prototypes, and high-fidelity product experiences. · Drive collaboration between design and product teams to define clear goals, roadmaps, and measurable success criteria for every initiative. · Oversee design system strategy and governance to ensure consistency, scalability, and velocity across experiences and teams. · Champion AI-enabled product experiences, integrating transparency, ethics, and trust into every user interaction. · Manage project timelines, dependencies, and resources in coordination with delivery managers to ensure successful delivery against KPIs and business objectives. · Present design strategy and outcomes to executive stakeholders through compelling, data-informed narratives that drive consensus and decision-making. · Coach teams in design storytelling, client engagement, and facilitation to encourage clear communication and influence. Leadership & Mentorship Responsibilities · Act as a design and product leader guiding the work of cross-disciplinary teams to align execution with strategic vision. · Manage and mentor a team of Principal, Senior, and Lead Designers—providing ongoing feedback, growth coaching, and performance evaluation. · Prioritize project assignments, balance resourcing, and support teams in managing workload and delivery expectations. · Represent design leadership in account planning, business development, and project governance forums. · Contribute to creating a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability within the design studio. · Lead internal knowledge-sharing sessions and external thought-leadership engagements to reinforce Brillio’s eminence in product design. Product Design and Management Skills Design & Craft Expertise · Expert in user-centered design and usability principles, translating research into elegant, intuitive product experiences. · Deep proficiency in interaction design, design systems, information architecture, and multi-platform responsive design. · Proven experience in accessibility design and compliance (WCAG 2.2+). · High competence with advanced prototyping, motion principles, and storytelling for interactive experiences. · Advanced skill in AI-supported design tools (Figma Make, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, or similar) and generative prototyping workflows. Product & Project Management · Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple design streams and priorities effectively. · Experienced in leading agile, sprint-based product design cycles, coordinating with product and engineering teams. · Proficient in backlog management, sprint planning, and cross-functional alignment with PMs and delivery leads. · Skilled at defining north-star visions while driving pragmatic delivery within scope and time constraints. · Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on design with strategic governance and stakeholder management. Business and Collaboration Skills · Deep understanding of client business priorities, industry trends, and how to connect design decisions to measurable outcomes. · Excellent stakeholder management and client communication abilities—able to inspire confidence and drive consensus. · Analytical thinker capable of using metrics and insights to shape product direction. · Adept at futures thinking, identifying emerging user behaviors and market opportunities. · Committed to continuous improvement and fostering design maturity across teams and projects. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design, UX / Interaction Design, Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Graphics, or related field. Equivalent practical experience with a strong design portfolio is accepted. Experience 12–15 years of experience designing and delivering digital products and services, with at least 5 years leading multi-disciplinary design and product teams.
