Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Underwriter to support our Non-Motor Insurance underwriting team. The candidate will assist in evaluating risk, analyzing proposals, and ensuring that all underwriting decisions align with company policies and regulatory standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow in a technical and decision-making role within the insurance domain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess risk proposals and underwriting documentation for various non-motor insurance products (e.g., fire, marine, health, liability, engineering).

  • Analyze client profiles, past claims history, and supporting documents to determine the acceptability of risk.

  • Assist in preparing quotations, endorsements, and policy documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines and IRDAI regulations.

  • Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to provide timely and accurate underwriting decisions.

  • Maintain and update underwriting records and ensure proper documentation.

  • Support senior underwriters in handling complex or large risks.

  • Participate in training sessions to understand evolving products, regulations, and risk evaluation techniques.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or an MBA in Marketing/Insurance or equivalent.

  • 1–3 years of experience in general insurance, preferably in non-motor underwriting.

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Good understanding of non-motor insurance products and underwriting principles.

  • Attention to detail with strong documentation and record-keeping skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and insurance software systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet tight deadlines.
