VP Operations

Our client is one of the leading company into Cement Manufacturing is looking for Addl. Plant Head (confidential) for their Integrated Cement unit in South & West India.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations Management

• Lead day-to-day cement plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and dispatch.
• Ensure achievement of production targets (clinker and cement) as per budgeted capacity and market demand.
• Optimize kiln, raw mill, and cement mill operations for maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.

2. Quality Control & Compliance

• Maintain product quality within BIS standards and customer requirements.
• Oversee quality control lab operations and ensure strict compliance with ISO, BIS, and other industry norms.
• Drive initiatives to reduce clinker factor, improve raw mix design, and optimize fuel mix.

3. Cost & Resource Optimization

• Control production costs through energy efficiency, fuel mix optimization (coal, petcoke, AFR), and process improvements.
• Implement lean manufacturing and TPM to improve productivity and reduce wastage.
• Monitor and optimize specific power and heat consumption.

4. Maintenance & Reliability

• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for all critical equipment (kiln, VRM, cement mill, packing plant).
• Reduce breakdowns and improve equipment uptime through condition monitoring and root cause analysis.

5. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

• Ensure compliance with all statutory and environmental norms (emission control, dust suppression, waste heat recovery).
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture and conduct regular safety audits and training.
• Lead implementation of AFR (Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials) and sustainability projects.

6. People Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing plant team.
• Drive employee engagement, skill upgradation, and succession planning.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

7. Strategic Planning & Projects

• Prepare and execute annual operating plans aligned with company strategy.
• Lead plant expansion, debottlenecking, and modernization projects.
• Coordinate with corporate R&D, supply chain, and sales for new product development and market readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering; M.Tech / MBA preferred.
• Experience: 18–25 years in cement manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role as Plant/Unit Head.
• Proven expertise in kiln, mill, and packing plant operations.
• Strong understanding of process optimization, cost control, and energy management.
• Experience in handling statutory compliance, environmental norms, and stakeholder management.
