Job Title: Head - Procurement (TMT & Other Steel Products)Department: ProcurementLocation: Gurugram (Head Office)Reports To: FoundersRole OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and commercially driven Head - Procurement (TMT & Other Steel Products) to lead strategic sourcing and procurement operations. The role will focus primarily on TMT procurement, while also overseeing other key categories such as structural steel, coils, plates, channels, and angles.This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material supply, developing supplier partnerships, enhancing cost and quality efficiencies, and supporting business growth through effective procurement strategies.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:- Develop and execute procurement strategies with a primary focus on TMT bars and other steel product categories.- Identify, evaluate, and onboard TMT mills, manufacturers, and major distributors across regions.- Lead negotiations on pricing, credit terms, and long-term supply contracts.- Ensure a continuous, cost-effective supply chain aligned with business demand.- Track market trends, input cost movements (billet/scrap), and steel price fluctuations to drive proactive sourcing decisions.2. Vendor & Supplier Management:- Build strong, long-term relationships with steel producers, traders, and service centers.- Conduct supplier evaluations, audits, and ongoing performance reviews.- Manage vendor credit, lead times, and delivery performance to meet SLAs.- Negotiate supply agreements to ensure competitive pricing and reliability.- Resolve disputes and ensure seamless coordination between vendors, finance, and logistics teams.3. Cost Control & Market Intelligence:- Analyze regional steel prices and competitor sourcing strategies.- Develop cost models and price forecasts to support commercial decision-making.- Identify and execute cost optimization opportunities through alternate sourcing, scale leverage, and logistics rationalization.- Keep leadership updated on key market developments impacting procurement strategy.4. Inventory, Logistics & Operations:- Plan procurement in line with sales forecasts to maintain optimal inventory and working capital.- Coordinate closely with logistics and warehousing for efficient dispatch, inward movement, and storage.- Ensure compliance with GST, e-invoicing, and all documentation requirements.- Optimize transportation and handling costs through vendor collaboration and route planning.5. Cross-functional Collaboration:- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations to align procurement with demand and payment cycles.- Support business teams by ensuring timely availability of materials for orders and projects.- Collaborate with technology teams to digitize procurement workflows and supplier management systems.6. Leadership & Team Development:- Build and lead a high-performing procurement team across product categories.- Define KPIs and performance metrics for procurement efficiency, vendor delivery, and cost savings.- Foster a culture of accountability, agility, and integrity within the procurement function.Key Skills & Competencies:- Deep understanding of TMT and steel markets (structural, coils, plates, channels, etc.).- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.- Proven vendor management and relationship-building capabilities.- Excellent analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.- Knowledge of procurement processes, contracting, and compliance norms.- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP/Tally/Zoho) and advanced Excel-based cost modeling.- Hands-on approach with the ability to manage both field sourcing and strategic planning.Qualifications & Experience:- Graduate/Postgraduate in Engineering, Commerce, or Business Administration (MBA preferred).- 10-15 years of experience in steel procurement, with strong exposure to TMT and long products.- Established network of mills, stockists, and traders across India.- Prior experience in manufacturing, construction, trading, or metal supply chain preferred.- Demonstrated success in large-volume sourcing and cost optimization initiatives.
