Category Management Specialist
(Based in Mumbai, India)
ORGANISATION
You will report to the Procurement Head and collaborate with managers, category leads, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate purchasing activities. Your main responsibilities include planning purchasing needs, negotiating with suppliers, and aligning all purchases with the company's strategy and budget. You'll also coordinate with external stakeholders to maintain accuracy and meet procurement goals.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy Planning: Help shape the procurement strategy by projecting annual needs and developing purchase plans within the assigned category.
Operations : Manage the complete procurement cycle within the assigned category, from vendor sourcing, tendering, commercial evaluation, recommendation and contract negotiation. Be accountable for leading negotiation efforts.
Continuous Improvement: Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Budget management: Be responsible for maintaining and adherence to the operations budget, meeting the saving targets within the assigned category.
Team Management: Develop capabilities of junior team members through formal or informal mentorship. Identify and address competency gaps and areas for development.
YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor’s in Maritime, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement in shipping, marine, or heavy industries.
- Entrepreneurial, with strong skills in analyzing data and making presentations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically, presenting ideas clearly.
- Effective communication, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Strong commercial sense, focusing on cost-effective solutions and understanding the broader business context
