Job Description:
We are expanding our Modelling team:
The role holder will work closely with the Customer Directorate team (the Actuarial Head) who will be accountable for all work done by the offshore Actuarial team. The role holder will ensure the Actuarial Manager has access to information that enables them to oversee all offshore activity and will ensure that all the country's instructions, controls, and changes are implemented effectively.
Purpose of the Role:
- Support actuarial modelling for Life insurance.
- Understand customer needs and provide service as per company's operational standards and procedures.
- Deliver all services as per specified standards of quality and timeliness.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the team and performance.
- Promote a healthy and motivating work environment.
- Identify training needs and provide coaching.
- Listen to team members' feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
- Drive process improvements in the team.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Create Excel models using VBA and SQL against client models of legacy software.
- Run the portfolio to ensure that Excel model output matches legacy software results.
- Cross-check cashflows from migrated software and match with the last published figures.
- Perform individual and block testing.
- Identify differences and amend the Excel model to fix them.
- Ensure successful testing and validation.
- Write model specifications against each of these legacy software models.
- Write procedure notes against each developed spreadsheet model.
- Lead and coach juniors on modelling.
- Present product-wise status reports to seniors.
- Perform contractual premium review of product blocks/policies.
- Reprice following premium review by creating models.
- Work on bonus, expense review, fund mergers, etc. projects.
- Ensure work is processed as per agreed quality standards for correctness and fairness.
- Record all enquiries correctly on the company systems to provide an audit trail.
- Be aware of the company complaint and incident identification procedure and act upon them immediately.
- Ensure work is processed within industry compliance and legislative requirements.
- Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by your manager.
- Ensure personal and business objectives are met in line with the departmental business plan.
- Ensure regulatory and audit requirements are met.
- Be aware of data security from a customer and business perspective and prevent fraudulent activity.
- Ensure business operating systems are used correctly and professionally.
- Complete/escalate all regular events, including audit activities and actions.
- Adhere to local and corporate governance and controls.
- Adhere to all HCL policies and procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Education/Qualifications/Training:
- Graduation in Actuarial Science
- Actuarial exam(s) passed from IAI/IFOA/SOA, etc.
Specific Job Skills:
- Good knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
- Knowledge of the technical aspects of Life insurance and pension
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Experience:
- VBA programming experience
- Good experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Actuarial analysis experience within Life insurance and pension

Desirable:
- Education/Qualifications/Training:
- BSc/MSc in Actuarial Science or a Mathematical/Financial subject

Experience:
- At least 7 years of modelling experience in any software
- Experience of working within an outsourcing environment
- Team collaboration
