Job Description : Unit Head for Integrated Cement Plant

Position Overview :

The Unit Head for an Integrated Cement Plant holds a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the cement manufacturing facility. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the cement industry, strong managerial skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Operational Management :

Lead and oversee all operational activities within the integrated cement plant, including raw material preparation, clinker production, cement grinding, and packing.

Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and performance targets while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing downtime.

Implement and monitor operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.

2. Safety and Compliance :

Champion a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.

Implement and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and provide training to employees to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.

3. Quality Assurance :

Maintain stringent quality control measures throughout the production process to ensure the consistent quality of cement products.

Implement quality assurance programs, conduct regular quality inspections, and address any deviations or non-conformities promptly.

4. Team Leadership and Development :

Provide strong leadership and direction to the plant team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Recruit, train, and develop talent within the plant, providing coaching, feedback, and support to enhance employee skills and performance.

5. Budgeting and Cost Management :

Develop annual operating budgets and production plans, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control measures to optimize operational expenses.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process optimization, and efficiency improvements to maximize profitability.

6. Environmental Stewardship :

Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and practices, including energy conservation, waste management, and emissions reduction.

Implement environmental management systems and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to environmental protection.

7. Stakeholder Engagement :

Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including corporate leadership, department heads, and plant employees.

Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, local communities, suppliers, and customers, to address concerns and foster goodwill.

Qualifications and Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in cement manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role

Strong technical knowledge of cement production processes, equipment, and technologies.

Demonstrated track record of driving operational excellence, safety performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.

Sound understanding of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
