Job Description: Site EHS Leader

EHS Roles and Responsibilities for site level requirement

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, regional, and national environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as organization's policies and standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments of workplace activities, processes, and facilities to identify potential hazards and develop appropriate control measures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine the root cause, implement corrective actions, and prevent reoccurrence including reporting promptly.
  • Collaborate with emergency response teams to establish and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and communication protocols.
  • Organize and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to raise awareness and promote a safety-oriented culture.
  • Develop waste management strategies to minimize environmental impact and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Support sustainability efforts within the organization, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and green practices.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate EHS performance, prepare reports, and communicate findings to management for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Responsible for assisting in the development and updating of EHS procedures and guidelines, including the implementation of a work permit system within the facility.
  • Serve as a SPOC for regulatory agencies and ensure necessary permits and licenses are obtained and maintained as applicable.
  • Develop and implement EHS programs to address specific workplace hazards and risks, such as materials handling, fire safety, electrical safety, etc. and organizing events to celebrate occasions like National Safety Day and World Environment Day etc. in the facility.
  • Engaging in follow-ups with the landlord to ensure compliance with EHS requirements (if applicable ).
  • Managing and analyzing occupational injuries and illnesses data to identify trends, implement corrective actions, and reduce workplace health risks.
  • Collaborating with HR teams to promote employee health and wellness initiatives, including health screenings, fitness programs, and mental health support.
  • Conducting ergonomic assessments of workstations and equipment to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and optimize employee comfort and productivity.
  • Assessing the vendor's identification and management of EHS risks associated with their products, services, and operations including base kitchen audit, transportation audit, waste management facility audit etc.
  • Responsible for developing EHS documentation, policies, and procedures in line with ISO standards and conducting regular internal audits to ensure ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance.
  • Facilitate and coordinate external ISO audits conducted by third-party certification bodies.

Roles and Responsibilities for corporate requirement

  • Timely reporting of any incidents, near misses, or accidents in the AIC portal, ensuring all prescribed investigation details are accurately recorded which includes manhours.
  • Responsible for collating and reporting various environmental parameters such as energy, water and waste in the SOFI portal as per the organization's requirements with adequate evidence.
  • Ensuring compliance with various regulatory norms and updating the legal tool with supporting evidence as per the legal framework of the organization.
  • Prepare management review slides pertaining to EHS and organize half yearly meeting with the leadership team.
  • Work with cross functional team in achieving EHS targets and enabling 100% green electricity for the facility by 2030.
