Job Description

App Engine's main mission is to make developing custom applications on the ServiceNow platform as easy as possible. We provide user-friendly tools that empower non-experts to create customized apps tailored to their specific needs. Our focus is on designing intuitive interfaces that simplify technical complexities, allowing customers to focus on the practical outcomes of their applications.

ROLE:

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the position of Senior Manager for App Engine. In this role, you will lead a team in collaborating with key stakeholders to evaluate, design, develop, and deliver high-quality experiences for our customers. Your responsibilities will include overseeing engineering initiatives to ensure exceptional customer experiences.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Design and deliver exceptional customer experiences, particularly targeting the citizen developer persona, from Generative AI to user-friendly Creator Studio tools for specific types of applications.
  • Manage the daily activities of the development team in an Agile/Scrum environment to drive engineering excellence.
  • Oversee and execute project plans and delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with product architecture, management, design, support, and other teams to create high-quality solutions.
  • Handle customer escalations and participate in occasional customer meetings to discuss new features, feedback, and issues.
  • Tackle challenging and occasionally vaguely defined problems.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members.
  • Manage departmental resources, staffing, and mentorship to enhance and maintain our top-tier engineering team.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 14 years of relevant experience with ServiceNow technologies and advanced coding skills.
  • 5 years of experience in a people management role.
  • A passion for Java, JavaScript, and the Web as a platform, focusing on reusability and componentization.
  • A strong interest in software development and problem-solving.
  • Advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations.
  • Proficiency with relational databases, including development, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • The ability to execute projects based on priorities, context, risks, and desired outcomes.
  • Fluency in one or more relevant programming languages, such as Java, C++, Ruby, Shell, or JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of AJAX, JSON, HTML, XML, CSS, SOAP, REST, and associated frameworks.
